Why does teracopy need access to sha, sha3 and other typically encrypted files?

I just got a prompt to upgrade to Teracopy 3.9.7 on windows. It wants to associate Teracopy with these filetypes - and a number of others. Why does teracopy want to be the default handler for these file types?

When you click on a .sha file, TeraCopy will read checksum from this plain text file and use it to verify files. None of these extensions are related to encryption.
