TeraCopy 3.10 and 3.12 require AVX2 compatible processors for certain checksums

After a lot of head scratching and frustration we have discovered that TeraCopy 3.10+ will crash with certain checksum methods when the CPU in the computer does not support AVX2 instruction set. There is no warning or error messages. The application will just bomb out.

TeraCopy does not respond when clicking copy

Just started using Teracopy. It works great on one of my Windows 10 home.

The other is running Windows 10 Enterprise edition. On this system TeraCopy does not work. It installs and seems 'ok' but after

selecting a source and target and clicking copy, nothing happens. You click and there is no response at all.

I've tried running the install in admin mode, starting in combability mode, etc. Installed with admin privilege's.

Booting into Safe mode it didn't fix it either.

Checked windows event logs and no signs of trouble.

Oddly enough using Windows File Explorer to copy files the Shell Integration of Teracopy works there for a copy.

Does it just not work with Windows 10 Enterprise edition?

Tried the patch zip file and it fixed my issues with Windows 10 Enterprise. Really happy its working now. Only did a test copy at the moment though. When I start my next backup project and use this tool I will consider buying after my feels towards them settles.

Why? I opened a ticket Sept 28th over a month ago on the issue. Also posting a message in this forum which was just today merged with this thread (my note removed in the process, and any note of the "description of the problem I had").  I'm not a paying customer but perplexed with no communication from company. Would of liked to get some simple message back, sorta common courtesy I expect when dealing with other humans.

3.10 and 3.12 won't work on my new Server 2022 installs (3 different installs).

On Windows Server 2022 Std 21H2 clean install and patched with latest Oct 2023 updates.
- Work Group. No GPs.
- single user on server with Administrators rights.
- TeraCopy Pro 3.10 and 3.12 have same issue (clicking the Copy/Test/Move/etc UI does nothing, but I can move between tabs and menus).
- I tried with 3.12 Pro and downgraded to 3.10 and it won't copy.

- portable 3.10 won't work either.
- Even right clicking and launching TeraCopy Pro as admin, doesn't work. If I copy/paste and use TeraCopy it adds the files, but won't copy.
- native OS will copy.

The WORST part is the radio silence from Code Sector for PAID supporters. I PAID for multiple licenses and support has not responded to my ticket from 3 days ago. I've resorted to using robo-copy for my project and will probably find another solutions. Sucks since Teracopy was a great solution.

Same issue for me. I set my Source and my Target, and clicking Copy does nothing.

Running Windows 10 Pro on a dual Xeon L5640 system. I'm a first-time user. I have large copy jobs and was evaluating the software.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, but no change. I also uninstalled and installed version 2.3 (that worked), but version 3.12 is DOA on my system.

This version is working on my old Xeon systems with all flavors of the xxHash.

I was having issues with TeraCopy and thought this might be the solution. Both the diagnostic file and the patch file trigger Windows Defender as malware. 'cputest' comes back as "Wacapew.B!ml" and teracopy.exe reports as "Wacatac.B!ml" which is rather serious malware. I would love an explanation for this as neither of these infections are typical of false positives.
